<image:caption>Governance Trustee and Chairman of Trustees. Andy first became involved with ONERio partner organisation, UmRio, in 2017, having heard about it through fellow ONERio trustee, Will Wilson. He subsequently headed out to Morro do Castro with the first group of Cambridge University rugby players in June that year and has returned twice since. One of Andy’s fondest memories in Morro do Castro is being involved in the record breaking 30 hour non-stop touch rugby match, where his Light Blue team were edged by fewer than 100 tries. Notably, this is his only Varsity Match defeat against fellow ONERio trustee, Ed Hart. Andy is a law graduate and current trainee solicitor at an American international law firm. Andy uses his legal and governance experience to act as ONERio’s trustee chairman and primarily advises on the organisation’s governance issues.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Coordination and Strategy Trustee. Jiselle's involvement with UMRio began in 2014 when she worked with founder Robert Malengreau on a research project on youth, entrepreneurship and social mobility in Brazil. Jiselle was very inspired by the work that UMRio was doing to support children and young people through rugby, and was keen to draw on her experience in project management and youth and community development to develop and launch UMRio's first education and professional development programme, 'Eu Quero Ser'. Jiselle developed UMRio's first education strategy and facilitated workshops in Morro do Castro to support the academic and career development of children and young people on the project for three years whilst she was based in Rio. Six years on, Jiselle is excited about taking on the role of trustee with ONERio with a focus on Strategy and Programme Development. Outside of ONERio, Jiselle is based in Barcelona, trying to master Spanish and avoid eating too many tapas!</image:caption>

Ed spent six weeks volunteering in Morro do Castro, during which he (along with fellow trustees Andy Burnett and Tom Painter) was involved in the record breaking 30 hour non-stop touch rugby match, where his Dark Blues team eventually edged it as 3,784 - 3,698 winners. Currently part way through his ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification, Ed’s trustee role particularly focuses on the finance and compliance sides of ONERio. Away from ONERio, Ed enjoys playing rugby (although preferably the 80 minute variety!), having played for Tring RUFC and Merlins Invitational XV since winning an Oxford rugby Blue in 2016.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Tom Painter - Tom Painter</image:title>
<image:caption>Rugby For Development Trustee. Tom’s first encounter with ONERio was through its partner organisation, UMRio. Already working in rugby for development as a coach with Dallaglio RugbyWorks, Tom visited Morro do Castro in 2018 to experience the project and share learning. Participating in the gruelling 30-hour touch rugby match, Tom gained a strong commitment to the programme and community. Since then, Tom has hosted the 2018 and 2019 UMRio Project Blue students on exchange days with Dallaglio RugbyWorks during their visits to the UK. Through this, the Project Blue students have shared their experience and rugby skills with excluded young people across London and even had breakfast with a world cup winner! After graduating from Oxford in 2013, Tom began professional life as a rugby coach. However, a trip to volunteer in South Africa in 2015 linked rugby coaching with development work for good. He has worked at Dallaglio RugbyWorks since and is currently the National Employability Manager. Tom’s role as trustee will be to use this experience and focus on rugby for development oversight, working with partner organisations to grow ONERio’s profile in this space. Away from ONERio, Tom is a keen golfer, and avidly supports his beloved Cherry and Whites at the Shed whenever he can.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Founder of Associação UMRio/ONERio and ONERio’s Brazil-based Project Leader. British-Brazilian Robert founded UMRio/ONERio in Morro do Castro favela in 2013, following three years of research into the politics of inclusion in Rio de Janeiro’s favelas at Oxford University. Over the past seven years, Robert has worked closely with the young people of UMRio, with the support of over 50 dedicated volunteers, to constantly develop and improve programmes that meet the specific needs of children and young people in Morro do Castro. Rob has since stepped back from Associação UMRio/ONERio’s programmatic implementation in Morro Do Castro to concentrate on developing the impact that ONERio’s rugby for development theory of change can have in both Morro Do Castro and in similar organisations who share our belief in the power of rugby for development. Before founding UMRio/ONERio, Robert also played for the Oxford University Greyhounds rugby team, and retains a keen interest in sport. He lives in Rio de Janeiro.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Grassroots Fundraising Trustee. Will first became associated with ONERio through its partner organisation, UMRio, when he volunteered in Morro do Castro in July 2016. While in Brazil, he was passionately involved in the project, helping secure tickets to the Olympic rugby sevens competitions for some of our young people, and winning his first ‘Dark Blue’ representing UMRio against Rio de Janeiro’s Federal University. In 2017, Will was instrumental in reaching out to Cambridge University RUFC, a difficult task for an Oxford student! UMRio/ONERio is now proud to partner with both Cambridge and Oxford rugby clubs, and volunteers from both shades of blue have visited Morro do Castro in recent years. Will’s trustee role with OneRio centres on grassroots fundraising. He and his fellow 2016 volunteers set up a fundraising page that has gone on to reach nearly £10,000, and he has consistently encouraged other volunteers to raise funds for the programme before they travel. He is also responsible for seeking out fundraising initiatives within sporting and corporate spheres in the UK. Away from ONERio, Will won three Oxford rugby Blues and has represented England Sevens, Wasps and Cornish Pirates. He is now beginning the transition into a career in corporate law.</image:caption>

Impressed by the authentic, ambitious and learner-centred approach of a new organisation working in such challenging conditions, Alice became a committed supporter. As a qualified teacher and with 10 years’ experience developing international curricula, Alice became a Trustee for UMRio/ONERio in 2016, and is a Designated Safeguarding Lead. As well as supporting staff and volunteers with ongoing training and advice, in 2019 she led Child Protection and Safeguarding Training for 20 Sports for Development organisations in Brazil. With attendees including Projeto Grael and Instituto Reaçāo, the training was one of the many ways UMRio is leading the way in collaboration within the sector. Outside UMRio/ONERio, Alice is an adopted Parisian who volunteers to teach French to vulnerable new arrivals and helps young people with their homework.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Dom Waldouck - Dom Waldouck</image:title>
<image:caption>Rugby For Development Trustee. Dom first volunteered at UMRio, ONERio’s partner organisation, in 2018. A Master’s student at Oxford in Sustainable Urban Development, UMRio provided a perfect foil for Dom’s interest in sustainability and social development. For his dissertation, he examined the effects of sports participation on perceived self-efficacy and educational attainment, using UMRio as the case study for the project. Measuring the tangible impact of UMRio on participants’ lives continues to be his inspiration for his involvement with the project, and was his main motivation behind accepting a ONERio trustee role. His role as rugby for development trustee marries his two passions in life, and he is very excited to be on board. Away from ONERio, Dom has enjoyed a hugely successful 14-year professional rugby career. Spells at Wasps (where he went on two England tours), Northampton Saints, London Irish and Newcastle Falcons, along with two Oxford Blues (the latter as captain) speak volumes for his talent and resilience. He is currently defence coach at Premiership side Gloucester Rugby.</image:caption>
